Any person who is dedicated to a career as an executive in health services, holds at least a bachelor’s degree, and meets the qualifications for one of the three membership categories listed below is eligible to be a member of WHCE, subject to approval by the Executive Board.

Active Member

Holds a management, senior staff, or consulting position in a health care facility or health-related organization/profession, or is a faculty member of an academic program in a discipline related to the purpose of WHCE.

Associate/Student Member

To qualify as an Associate/Student Member, a person must be:

(1) A full-time student in a program in hospital and health care administration or another discipline related to the purpose of WHCE, or

(2) Currently unemployed and was eligible for Active Membership in his/her last employed position, or

(3) Employed in the health care field in a position which does not qualify for Active Membership.

A person may not be an Associate/Student Member if he/she qualifies for Active Membership.

Associate/Student membership is limited to a two-year period, with a possible one-time two-year extension granted by the Executive Board.

Honorary Life Member

Upon majority vote of the Executive Board, Honorary Life Membership may be conferred upon a person in recognition of outstanding service to WHCE and/or to the health care field.

The Executive Board may approve for membership a person who, in the opinion of the Executive Board, would offer a unique contribution to the purpose of WHCE.
